Terms of Use

Last updated: October 28, 2026

These terms explain how you can use TransAfrica Sounds (transafricaradio.net), an independent magazine covering Afrobeats, Amapiano and the wider sound of Africa. They are written in plain English. By using this site, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

Who we are

TransAfrica Sounds is a new, independent content website. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the people who run this site. “You” means anyone who visits or reads it. We are not a record label, a distributor, a promoter or a streaming service. We write about music.

What this site is for

Everything we publish is for your personal information and enjoyment. That includes news, reviews, artist profiles, playlists, explainers, interviews and opinion pieces.

You’re welcome to read, share links to our articles and talk about them anywhere you like. You may not:

  • Copy whole articles or large parts of them and republish them elsewhere
  • Present our writing, rankings or reviews as your own
  • Use our content to train, build or feed automated systems without our written permission
  • Sell or commercially reuse our content without our written permission

Short quotes are fine if you credit TransAfrica Sounds as the source.

Not professional advice

Some of our articles touch on the business side of music: streaming royalties, distribution, publishing, record deals, touring and building an audience. We cover these topics to inform readers. We do not give legal, financial, tax or contractual advice.

Before signing a contract, registering your rights, investing money or making a career decision, speak to a qualified professional who knows your situation and the law where you live.

Accuracy and changes

We work hard to get things right. We check release dates, chart positions, credits and quotes against reliable sources before publishing. Music moves fast, though, and things change:

  • Release dates get pushed back
  • Tour dates, venues and ticket prices change or get cancelled
  • Chart positions and streaming figures shift daily
  • Rumoured collaborations or albums sometimes never arrive

When we report on rumours or unconfirmed news, we say so and explain where the information came from. Always confirm event details, ticket prices and availability directly with the artist, promoter or official ticket seller before you spend money.

If you spot an error, tell us through the contact details published on this site. We correct mistakes and update articles when the facts change. We may also edit, update or remove content at any time without notice.

Music, artwork and trademarks

The music we write about belongs to the artists, songwriters, producers and labels who made it. Artist names, album artwork, logos, photographs, label names and platform names (such as streaming services and social networks) are the property of their respective owners. We use them only to identify and discuss the work. Their appearance here does not mean those owners endorse us or that we have any partnership with them.

We do not host, share or link to pirated music, leaked tracks or unofficial downloads. When we embed a song or video, it comes from an official source such as the artist’s own channel or a licensed streaming platform.

If you own rights in something on this site and believe we’ve used it unfairly, contact us and we will review it promptly.

External links and embedded content

Our articles may include embedded players and content from third-party services, such as video and audio platforms. These services have their own terms and privacy policies, and they may set their own cookies when you play their content.

We don’t control third-party websites or services. We aren’t responsible for their content, availability, accuracy or practices. Visiting them is your choice, and their terms apply once you do.

Acceptable use

Please use this site fairly. You agree not to:

  • Break any law while using the site
  • Attempt to hack, disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site or its systems
  • Scrape or harvest content in bulk using bots or automated tools
  • Upload or send anything containing viruses or malicious code
  • Impersonate us, an artist or anyone else
  • Use the site to harass, threaten or abuse anyone

If we offer comments, contact forms or submission tools, keep what you send respectful and lawful. Don’t post spam, hate speech, personal information about other people, or material you don’t have the right to share. We may remove submissions and block access for anyone who ignores these rules.

Music and story submissions

Artists, managers and publicists sometimes send us music, press releases or pitches. Sending something to us doesn’t guarantee coverage. We choose what to write about independently, and we don’t sell positive reviews. By sending us material, you confirm you have the right to share it, and you allow us to quote from it, describe it and reference it in our coverage.

Limitation of liability

In plain words: this site is provided as it is, free of charge, for general information. We don’t promise it will always be available, error-free or completely up to date.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not responsible for any loss or damage that comes from using this site, relying on its content, or using any third-party site or service we link to or embed. That includes buying tickets based on outdated event details, acting on business information without getting professional advice, or problems caused by an outside platform.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the consumer protection laws where you live that cannot legally be excluded.

Privacy

How we handle any information collected when you visit is explained in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site grows or as laws change. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the revised terms, so check back from time to time.

Questions

If something in these terms is unclear, or you’d like permission to use our content in a way not covered here, reach out through the contact details published on this site. We’re happy to help.
